The beauty, utility or banality of the common plastic shopping bag is undermined by numbers – nearly one billion plastic bags are produced everyday for distribution and use.
It is estimated that less than 10% of those bags are recycled. Though as many as 60% may be informally re-used by consumers as garbage bags and the like.
